Challenge 1: The Marshmallow Gun

In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.

Step 1: Prepare for Battle

If it’s a war you want, then it’s a weapon that you’ll need. In this battle our ammo is the softest of projectiles on the confectionary market, the marshmallow. Screenshot the schematic above and then head to your local hardware store. You might want to stop by for some munitions while your’e at it. The battle nears, prepare yourself.

Step 2: Assembly

You’ll need a measuring tape, hand saw, and a marker and you’re on your way to arsenal of PVC weaponry. Be sure to cut the pipe if you’re kids aren’t old enough to handle a small hand saw. Or if they haven’t yer, give them this opportunity to get their hands on one. Either way you’ve got a few sections of pipe to cut.

Let them assemble all the parts per the instructions above and use your marker to start personalizing your newly manufactured rifles. Now you’re well equipped for a family battle of the most epic proportions.

Step 3: Arm Yourself

Here are some rules we learned from our own battles that you might want to abide by:

  1. No auxiliary munitions- Keep it to marshmallows. Using other ammunition options can become an issue real quick. Legos are particularly one that you should avoid.

Choose any rules of warfare that you’d like, but here are some ideas for fun variations that can keep the fun going even longer.

  1. The Civil War- 10 Marshmallows a piece and when you’re out of ammo you’re out.
  2. Double-Tap Rule: In order to be out you have to get hit twice in a row
